FREE Malnutrition, Eating & Drinking Training

In conjunction with Liverpool Community Health, the following sessions are being made available free of charge to Residential and Nursing Homes and care agencies:

- MUST Tool Session
- Recognising and Working with Eating and Drinking Difficulties

‘MUST Tool Session’
The session aims to raise awareness of the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) which is a simple validated 5 step nutrition screening tool to identify malnutrition risk category.  The session on MUST will include:

             Introduction to malnutrition
             How to use the MUST tool
             Exploring the MUST tool through case studies
             Practical sessions on measurement to include height, weight, alternative measurements (MUAC and ulna length) and subjective criteria

Bespoke sessions for chefs on recipe modification and high protein/energy snacks can be provided if there is enough interest, please let us know.

Recognising and Working with Eating and Drinking Difficulties
The session being delivered by the Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Team aims to raise awareness eating and drinking difficulties and will explore in more detail the following key areas:

             How to recognise dysphagia
             What can cause dysphagia
             How to help people with dysphagia

Up to a maximum of three places per home/agency can be allocated per session.

It is imperative that you book place(s) by contacting Wendy Moss on 0151 233 4629.  Please ensure to let me know if somebody is unable to attend in order to avoid incurring a possible charge for ‘non attendance’, this will enable the place to be offered to another provider or you may wish to send somebody else in their place but please inform us of the change in name.

See below for the available dates, your staff members only need to attend one half day session.  More dates will be made available subject to the places on these sessions becoming full (maximum of 25 places available per session).

All of these half day sessions will be held during the morning, 9.00am arrival for 9.30am start until 12.30pm.  The venue for all sessions will be the Liverpool City Council building Toxteth Annexe, Aigburth Road, Liverpool, L17 7BN (free on site parking is available) Tea/coffee will be provided.
