Awareness of Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia (FTLD)

Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia (FTLD):

  • Is the second most common form of early onset degenerative dementia after Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Affects men and women equally
  • Onset is usually between the ages of 45 and 65
  • Symptoms progress inexorably.
  • Disorder is strongly familial
  • Affects around 16,000 people in the UK

LSCP is hosting a training awareness session, which is aimed at all staff working in a social care environment.  A general understanding of the issues associated with FTLD will be explored.

Learning outcomes include:

·        Understand the clinical definition of FTLD

·        Examine who it affects

·        Explore the signs/symptoms and  the causes of FTLD

·        Examine the diagnostic procedure

·        Understand the behavioural variant of FTLD

·        Understand the language variants of FTLD

·        Explore overlapping motor disorder

The course has been developed using the most up-to-date guidance from Skills for Care/Health. in addition to:

  • SCIE Quick Reference Guide: Dementia - Supporting people with dementia and their carers in health and social care
  • NHS Dementia Revealed Tool Kit

Please note that If a delegate does not attend a course, and we have not been previously informed by email, the employer of that individual will still be invoiced for the applicable amount.

 

The costs includes learning materials, handouts, slides and certificates will be sent on receipt of payment. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served during the day, lunch however will not.
