Equality and Diversity Training

The words equality and diversity are often used but what do they actually mean? Equality focuses on the law and people's rights, and diversity looks at how we can accept and celebrate our differences.

Equality laws exist to identify, tackle and eradicate unlawful discrimination, to help us improve our workplace cultures and behaviours. This can often be quite a challenge, so the first step is to increase our knowledge, understanding and skills in this area.

This course addresses all six forms of discrimination and all nine of the protected characteristics contained in the Equality Act 2010, and these are central to this training. This course will help candidates understand fair and balanced approaches to delivering health or social care in ways that properly reflect diversity and equality.


Additionally, it will help workers deliver care and support in an equal and non-discriminatory way. They will learn about the meaning of diversity, equality and discrimination and how it can occur in the workplace. The training will also cover legislation that is in place to stop discrimination and help promote dignity and good practice.

 

This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:

Scenarios, Case studies, group discussions, small group activities and film clips.


This course has been developed and mapped to:

  • Equality Act 2010
  • Skills for Care Common Core Strategic Equality & Diversity principles

 It will also provide evidence for people who are completing the Qualification Credit Framework Health & Social Care Diplomas

 

The cost is as follows:

  • £15 per person
