Good Morning,

We thought that the following information may be beneficial to your organisations.

The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DOLS) were introduced with the aim of reinforcing the protection of vulnerable adults in care settings; they therefore form the guidelines of care for all professionals involved in the health and social care sector. Delegates will come away from this course with a working knowledge of the MCA and its relationship with DOLS, thus understanding how they can ensure that their every-day activities comply with both acts.

Course overview

This course has been to provide learners with an understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and explores how this will support them to support decisions made by Service Users on a day to day basis. This course is aimed at all staff working within Health and Social Care services.

This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including: Scenarios, Case studies, group discussions, small group activities and DVD clips.

This course has been developed and mapped to:

· The Mental Capacity Act 2005
