Workforce Development Funding - Milestone 4

We would like to remind everyone that milestone 4 is due on the 31st January 2017.  

Please ensure that your National Minimum Data Set is up to date and that all your unit evidence has been checked to ensure that they contain all relevant information needed

A chart has been provided below to support your checking procedure.


Evidence item required

Check/s needed




  • Surname as registered with Awarding Body
  • Spelled correctly and consistently
  • Must be legible.
  • First name and surname in correct cells of summary sheet

e.g.  Joan Smith changes name to Joan Jones but Awarding Body still has Joan Smith

e.g. Askwith or Asquith?

e.g.Is it Andrew or Andrea? Consider  printing name

e.g.  is he Norman Russell or Russell Norman?


  • Must be present and have 10 digits
  • Must be different from the registration no.
  • Must always be the same on all claims for the individual learner

Claims will be rejected if ULN incorrect e.g. duplicate with another candidate.

ULN can be written on evidence, e.g. if copy certificate does not contain ULN.

ULN must be on each piece of evidence

Employee’s Candidate Registration No.

  • Must be unique and correct to individual.
  • Is different to ULN

Claims will be rejected if Reg. No. incorrect, e.g. duplicate with another candidate

Unit codes

  • Must be from Skills for Care Acceptable Units list
  • Can be handwritten on certificates, against title of unit/s

Not RITS code

Not ‘Unit 1’, ‘Unit 2’ etc.

Check unit has not already been claimed, e.g. for a prior qualification, or in previous year. A unit can only be funded once.

Unit title

  • Matches unit code
  • Title must be in full as on Skills for Care Acceptable Units list

e.g. ‘DEM 205 - Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia’

(not ‘Communication and interaction in dementia’.)

60 credit limit per candidate year

  • Claims for learner in one funding year must total 60 or less

Level 5 Diploma units may need claiming over two WDF years.


IV/IQA signature and date

  • Both signature and date must be present.
  • Units must be signed off in WDF year
  • Year must contain day, month and year

2015 units are not eligible for 2016-17 year – see ARC website.




Handwritten dates must be legible

Please can you ensure that your claims are e-mailed before the due date of the 31st Jan, to be certain that your evidence is sent to Skills for Care in time.
