Did you know...
  • In the UK, there are over 500,000 people with epilepsy
  • Every day, 87 people are diagnosed

  • One in every four people newly diagnosed with epilepsy is over the age of 65

Figures from Public Health England (PHE)

Staff working in Social Care today, often need specialized training in order to care/support clients, enabling them to have more positive life outcomes.

When it comes to learning about epilepsy, the knowledge gained, can greatly improve a person's quality of life. Epilepsy management is a very important part of service provision for many service users in both domiciliary settings and assisted living facilities.

To support this LSCP has collaborated on the development of a half-day programme which will enable staff to gain further insight to the condition and will help employers meet their CQC requirements for staff training. In addition to meeting:

  • Health and Social Care Act 2014 (Regulated Activities)
  • NICE Guidance 'Epilepsies: diagnosis and management' CG137
  • NICE Quality standard [QS26] - Epilepsy in adults
  • National Clinical Guideline Centre ‘The epilepsies guideline’

Our half-day session has a number of learning objectives which include:

  • Understand the nature and incidence of epilepsy
  • Be familiar with the various forms of epilepsy and their clinical features
  • Understand the diagnostic methods for investigating suspected epilepsy
  • Be able to explain the range of treatments available for this condition
  • Appreciate the social and occupational aspects of epilepsy

The event will take place on;

Date:

Tuesday 10th November 2020 at 9:30AM - 12:45PM

Venue:
Virtual learning environment through Zoom

Costs:
LSCP Members (2020 fully subscribed) = £38.50         Non-Members = £50.00

We are holding our first Virtual Social Care Job Fair

posted Oct 29, 2020, 10:07 AM by Rebecca Barker

At LSCP we host a number of 'Social Care Job Fair' recruitment events across the city each year.

However, due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are not able to hold our these events as normal in a community centre or other local venue, because of this we have decided to hold our first virtual event via Zoom.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to hear from up to 8 employers about the work they do, the vacancies they currently have available and ask any questions they may have. Attendees will also hear from Liverpool in Work and ourselves (LSCP) about the support and pre-recruitment training we offer.

As this event is taking place via Zoom we do require a booking form from those who wish to attend, this includes further information on each of the organisations booked to attend and allows attendees to express an interest in specific employers.

If you are interested in attending this event please complete a booking form and return it to Carley, Admin Assistant via email on carley@lscpinfo.co.uk, you can also contact our office on the number below should you have any questions about the event.
