CQC - Out of Sight, who cares?: Restraint, Segregation and Seclusion Review
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has recently published a review that looks into the Restraint, Segregation and Seclusion in care services for people with mental health conditions, autistic people or those with learning disabilities. CQC looked in-depth at how long-term segregation was used and found that 66 people that they had met who were in segregation had been let down by the health and care system. It was often found that creating a care package meeting the needs of the individuals was seen as too difficult to get right, causing them to fall between the gaps.
