Learning Outcomes

The Anxiety and Panic Attacks course provides learners with a greater understanding of anxiety and panic attacks, exploring how they can affect an individual’s emotional, physical, and psychological wellbeing. Participants will learn to recognise the common signs and symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks, helping them identify when someone may be experiencing distress and require support.

The course examines the possible causes and contributing factors of anxiety and panic attacks, including stress, life events, health conditions, and individual circumstances. Learners will explore both the positive and negative impacts of anxiety, recognising that while anxiety can be a natural response to challenging situations, excessive or persistent anxiety can significantly affect daily life, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

Participants will also explore how negative beliefs and patterns of thinking can increase anxiety and contribute to the cycle of anxious thoughts and behaviours. The training encourages a greater understanding of how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected and how this knowledge can support more effective responses.

The session introduces practical strategies and skills for managing stress and reducing anxiety, including a range of techniques that can be used to promote emotional wellbeing and build resilience. Learners will develop confidence in using practical tools to support individuals experiencing anxiety or panic attacks while promoting a calm, supportive, and person-centred approach.

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond confidently and compassionately to individuals experiencing anxiety and panic attacks.
