Guiding Providers to Safer, Smarter Digital Care
Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
The Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) is the official online self-assessment for information governance in health and social care. Treated as the minimum cyber security standard, it helps providers safeguard both digital and paper records, protect against data breaches, and meet contractual requirements with local authorities and the NHS. CQC also expected providers to meet Standards Met on the DSPT as a minimum and inspectors are actively asking providers for their DSPT as evidence, and without it, organisations risk not achieving a ‘Good’ rating or higher.
LSCP is helping care providers in the North West to evaluate and improve their data and cyber security
As a care provider, you know how important it is to have access to good information about the people you support and your staff. In order to store and share that information safely, you need to be confident that your paper and digital records are secure.
LSCP has been awarded a grant to support local care providers on their data security journey as part of the national Better Security, Better Care programme. Our main focus is to help you to understand the importance of data and cyber security, and complete an annual, online self-assessment using the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). The programme will help you to evaluate and improve your data and cyber security.
This means you can reassure the people you support and their families, your staff, commissioners, regulators, and health and care partners, that you are following good practice – and meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
Our Support To You
As an organisation, we know the NW care market. Our support is focused on Care Quality Commission registered care providers across the whole of the North West. We can also support large care groups if all or most of your services are in the areas we cover.
Please note that all our support for the DSPT is FREE for you as we are fully funded by the Department of Health and Social Care via the BSBC programme.
