Awareness of Arthritis (Virtual)
This course introduces arthritis, helping learners understand the condition, recognise common symptoms, and support individuals in managing pain, mobility, and daily activities.
Learning Outcomes
The Awareness of Arthritis course provides learners with a clear understanding of arthritis and how it affects the joints and overall mobility. Participants will explore what arthritis is, gaining insight into how the condition develops and how it can impact an individual’s daily life, comfort, and independence.
The course introduces how joints work, helping learners understand the structure and function of joints and how arthritis can affect movement, flexibility, and cause pain or inflammation. This foundational knowledge supports a better understanding of the physical impact of the condition.
Learners will examine the process of diagnosing arthritis, including how symptoms are assessed and the role of medical investigations in identifying different types of the condition. The session also explores the various types of arthritis, such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, highlighting how symptoms and progression may differ between individuals.
Participants will gain an awareness of a range of treatment options, including medication, physical therapies, lifestyle changes, and supportive approaches that help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. The course aims to increase understanding and confidence in supporting individuals living with arthritis in a person-centred and informed way.
By the end of this course, participants will understand what arthritis is, how joints work, recognise different types of arthritis, understand the diagnosis process, and be aware of treatment options to support individuals living with the condition.
