Blood Pressure Awareness (Online)
This course introduces blood pressure, helping learners understand healthy and abnormal readings, recognise key signs and symptoms, and support effective monitoring and management.
Learning Outcomes
The Blood Pressure Awareness course provides learners with a clear understanding of blood pressure and the importance of effective monitoring and management. Participants will explore current NICE and European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidance relating to the assessment and diagnosis of hypertension, developing awareness of how high blood pressure is identified.
The course helps learners understand blood pressure readings and appropriate targets, including the differences between high blood pressure (hypertension) and low blood pressure (hypotension). Participants will gain awareness of how abnormal blood pressure can affect an individual’s health and wellbeing.
Learners will explore the approaches used to treat and manage high and low blood pressure, including lifestyle measures, monitoring, and medication where appropriate. The session also examines the importance of ongoing management and following professional healthcare advice.
The training highlights the risks associated with high blood pressure and how poorly controlled hypertension can increase the likelihood of serious health complications. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on improving awareness, supporting early recognition, and promoting effective blood pressure monitoring and management.
By the end of this course, participants will understand blood pressure guidance and targets, recognise high and low blood pressure, be aware of treatment options, and understand the risks associated with hypertension.
