Embedding Dignity (Online)
This course explores what dignity means in care practice, helping learners understand how to respect, empower, and support individuals in a way that promotes value, choice, and self-worth
Learning Outcomes
The Embedding Dignity course helps learners develop a meaningful understanding of dignity and its importance within health and social care settings. Participants will explore what dignity truly means in practice and reflect on how everyday actions, attitudes, and decision-making can either uphold or undermine a person’s sense of value and self-respect.
The session examines the impact dignity has on people’s lives and wellbeing, highlighting the emotional, psychological, and practical consequences when dignity is overlooked or compromised. Learners will consider real examples of good and poor practice, helping them recognise the difference that respectful, compassionate care can make to an individual’s confidence, independence, and quality of life.
A key focus of the course is encouraging positive change in behaviours and practice. Participants are supported to challenge assumptions, rethink approaches, and actively champion dignity within their roles. By promoting awareness and modelling respectful actions, learners begin to understand how they can influence culture, inspire others, and contribute to environments where every person feels valued.
By the end of the session, participants will feel equipped to uphold dignity consistently and confidently, becoming advocates for compassionate, person-respecting care.
By the end of this course, participants will understand the importance of dignity in care, recognise its impact on people’s lives, and feel confident in changing behaviours and practices to consistently promote dignity and act as champions for respectful, compassionate support.
