The course explores the principles that guide professional practice, helping learners understand respect, dignity, equality, and integrity in providing high quality care.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will have a clear understanding of the ethical principles, values, and legislation that underpin professional practice in social care. Learners will explore how these frameworks guide decision-making, ensuring that care is delivered with fairness, integrity, and respect for individual rights.

The course will enable participants to recognise how their own personal values influence professional behaviour and choices, helping them to manage these effectively in challenging or sensitive situations. Learners will also develop the skills to identify and address conflicting values and ethical dilemmas, using reflective and principled approaches to reach sound, ethical decisions.

Through discussion and practical examples, participants will gain confidence in building respectful partnerships with service users and carers, actively involving them in decision-making and valuing their perspectives. The course will also reinforce the importance of promoting autonomy, protecting privacy, and maintaining professional accountability when sharing information or managing sensitive situations.

Most importantly, participants will leave equipped with the knowledge and ethical awareness needed to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, empathy, and respect in all areas of social care practice.
