Learning Outcomes
The Good Hand Hygiene course provides learners with a clear understanding of the importance of effective hand hygiene in preventing and controlling the spread of infection. Participants will explore how good hand hygiene protects themselves, colleagues, and the individuals they support while contributing to a safe and hygienic care environment.
The course examines the correct stages of effective handwashing, helping learners understand how to clean their hands thoroughly and consistently. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of appropriate hand hygiene techniques and how these should be applied in everyday care practice.
Learners will explore when hand hygiene is required, including key situations where effective handwashing or hand decontamination is essential to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and infection. The training reinforces the importance of following appropriate hand hygiene procedures at the correct times.
The course also considers appropriate nail care and how fingernails can contribute to the spread of microorganisms if they are not maintained correctly. Participants will develop awareness of personal hygiene standards and their role in supporting effective infection prevention and control.
Throughout the course, learners will be encouraged to put correct hand hygiene techniques into practice and develop consistent habits that can be applied within their role. Emphasis is placed on personal responsibility, safe practice, and maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control.
By the end of this course, participants will have developed a greater understanding of effective hand hygiene and feel more confident in applying safe and consistent practices to help prevent and control the spread of infection.
