Good Hand Hygiene (Virtual)
This course introduces the importance of effective hand hygiene, helping learners understand how proper handwashing techniques can prevent the spread of infection and promote safe, hygienic practice.
Learning Outcomes
The Good Hand Hygiene course provides learners with an understanding of the importance of effective hand hygiene in preventing the spread of infection and maintaining safe, hygienic environments. Participants will explore why proper hand hygiene is essential in protecting both themselves and the individuals they support.
The course outlines the correct stages of effective handwashing, helping learners understand how to carry out thorough and consistent hand hygiene using recognised techniques. Participants will also explore appropriate nail care and how this contributes to maintaining good hygiene and reducing the risk of contamination.
Learners will gain awareness of when hand hygiene is required in practice, including key moments where handwashing or sanitising is essential to prevent the spread of infection. The training reinforces the importance of following correct procedures at the right times to ensure safe and effective care.
The session also explains the importance of proper hand hygiene procedures and how they support infection prevention and control. Participants will develop the ability to recognise situations where hand hygiene is necessary and understand the impact of poor practice on health and safety.
Throughout the course, learners will be encouraged to put hand hygiene techniques into practice, building confidence in applying correct procedures consistently within their role. The training aims to support safe working practices and promote high standards of hygiene in everyday care settings.
By the end of this course, participants will understand the importance of hand hygiene, identify when it is required, demonstrate correct handwashing techniques, maintain appropriate nail care, and apply effective hand hygiene practices in their role.
