This course explores how change impacts individuals and teams, helping learners understand how to adapt, manage resistance, and maintain positive working relationships during periods of change in social care settings.
Learning Outcomes
The Managing Change in Social Care course supports learners in understanding how change affects individuals, teams, and organisations within the care sector. Participants will explore the emotional, practical, and cultural impact that change can have, recognising why transitions can feel challenging and how uncertainty can influence behaviour and performance.
The course focuses on preparing for change by examining how upcoming changes can be communicated clearly and planned effectively. Learners will explore the importance of gaining “buy-in” from staff, understanding why resistance can occur, and how concerns can be addressed through open communication, involvement, and reassurance.
Participants will gain insight into the stages of the change process, helping them recognise common reactions and respond appropriately at each phase. The session also highlights the importance of maintaining strong working relationships during times of transition, promoting trust, collaboration, and shared purpose.
By the end of the course, learners will have a clearer understanding of how to manage change positively, reduce disruption, and support individuals and teams through periods of adjustment in a way that maintains morale and quality of care.
By the end of this course, participants will understand the impact of change within social care, recognise how to prepare for and manage transitions, and apply strategies to reduce resistance while maintaining positive and effective working relationships.
