Panic Attacks and Anxiety (Online)
This course offers a basic understanding of anxiety and panic attacks, their triggers, how they affect individuals, and simple ways to recognise and respond to someone experiencing them.
Learning Outcomes
The Anxiety & Panic Attacks Awareness course helps learners deepen their understanding of how anxiety affects thoughts, emotions, and behaviour, and how panic attacks can emerge as overwhelming physical and psychological responses. Participants will explore the common signs and symptoms of anxiety, including changes in mood, behaviour, physical sensations, and coping patterns, enabling them to recognise when someone may be struggling.
The course examines a range of causes and contributing factors, such as stress, trauma, environment, lifestyle, and underlying belief systems. Learners will consider how negative thinking patterns can escalate anxiety and how panic cycles develop, helping them better understand why some individuals become trapped in recurring episodes.
A key focus of the session is identifying both the positive and negative impacts anxiety can have, such as increased awareness or resilience, alongside avoidance behaviours, reduced functioning, and distress. The course also introduces stress-management strategies and practical tools to help reduce anxiety, including grounding techniques, breathing exercises, reframing thoughts, and simple lifestyle adjustments.
By the end of the session, participants will feel more confident in recognising anxiety and panic attacks, understanding their root causes, and using supportive techniques to help individuals manage anxiety more effectively.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to recognise the signs of anxiety and panic attacks, understand their causes and impacts, and apply practical techniques to help reduce stress and support individuals experiencing emotional distress.
