Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (Online)
This course introduces PTSD, helping learners understand the condition, recognise common signs and symptoms, and develop awareness of how to support individuals affected by trauma.
Learning Outcomes
The Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) course provides learners with a clear understanding of the clinical aspects of PTSD and how the condition can affect an individual’s emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing. Participants will explore how PTSD can develop following traumatic experiences and how it may impact everyday life.
The course helps learners recognise common signs and symptoms of PTSD, including intrusive memories, avoidance, changes in mood, heightened anxiety, and difficulties with sleep or concentration. Participants will explore the relationship between stress and trauma, gaining an understanding of how individuals may respond differently to distressing or traumatic experiences.
Learners will also examine potential triggers for PTSD and how certain situations, environments, memories, or experiences may cause symptoms to reoccur or intensify. The session highlights the importance of recognising individual triggers and responding in a sensitive and supportive manner.
The training provides an overview of treatment options available for PTSD, including psychological therapies, medication, and other supportive approaches. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting compassionate, person-centred support for individuals affected by PTSD.
By the end of this course, participants will understand the clinical aspects of PTSD, recognise common signs and symptoms, understand the relationship between stress and trauma, identify potential triggers, and be aware of treatment and support options available.
