Safeguarding ‘Beyond Alerting’ (F2F)

The Safeguarding ‘Beyond Alerting’ course provides learners with a deeper understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the importance of creating working cultures where abuse, neglect, and poor practice are not tolerated. Participants will explore how positive organisational cultures can promote safety, dignity, and the protection of individuals at risk.

The course develops learners’ ability to recognise different forms and indicators of abuse and understand how to respond appropriately when concerns arise. Participants will explore their individual roles and responsibilities within safeguarding, including the importance of following local procedures, organisational policies, and relevant legislation.

Learners will examine factors that may increase the risk of abuse, helping them identify situations where individuals may be particularly vulnerable. The session also explores the processes that should be followed when abuse is suspected, witnessed, or disclosed, including appropriate reporting, recording, and escalation.

The training considers the role of managers within safeguarding procedures, including their responsibilities for responding to concerns, supporting staff, ensuring appropriate action is taken, and promoting safe practice across the service.

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on developing confident and proactive safeguarding practice that goes beyond simply raising an alert and contributes to safer, more accountable care environments.
