Understanding Blood Pressure (Virtual)
This course introduces blood pressure, helping learners understand what it is, recognise normal and abnormal readings, and support individuals in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels.
Learning Outcomes
The Understanding Blood Pressure course provides learners with a clear understanding of what blood pressure is and why it is important for overall health and wellbeing. Participants will explore how blood pressure works within the body and how it supports the circulation of oxygen and nutrients.
The course examines the differences between high blood pressure (hypertension) and low blood pressure (hypotension), helping learners understand how each condition can affect the body in different ways. Participants will explore the factors and risks associated with both hypertension and hypotension, including lifestyle, medical conditions, and environmental influences.
Learners will gain the ability to identify the signs and symptoms of both high and low blood pressure, supporting early recognition and appropriate response. The session also explains how blood pressure is measured, including the methods and equipment used to monitor readings accurately.
The training explores how blood pressure can be managed and controlled, including lifestyle changes, medication, and ongoing monitoring. Participants will also consider the barriers individuals may face when trying to manage high blood pressure, such as access to healthcare, lifestyle challenges, or lack of awareness.
Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on promoting awareness, early identification, and supportive approaches that help individuals maintain healthy blood pressure and reduce the risk of associated health conditions.
By the end of this course, participants will understand what blood pressure is, recognise the differences between hypertension and hypotension, identify signs and symptoms, understand how blood pressure is measured, and support individuals in managing and controlling their blood pressure.
