Data Security Protection Toolkit
Part of the Better Security, Better Care Programme

LSCP is helping local care providers to evaluate and improve their data and cyber security.

As a care provider, you know how important it is to have access to good information about the people you support and your staff. In order to store and share that information safely, you need to be confident that your paper and digital records are secure.

LSCP has been awarded a grant to support local care providers on their data security journey as part of the national Better Security, Better Care programme. Our main focus is to help you to understand the importance of data and cyber security, and complete an annual, online self-assessment using the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).The programme will help you to evaluate and improve your data and cyber security.

This means you can reassure the people you support and their families, your staff, commissioners, regulators, and health and care partners, that you are following good practice – and meeting legal and regulatory requirements.

What is the Data Security Protection Toolkit?

The Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) is an annual self-assessment for health and care organisations. It shows care providers what needs to be done to keep people’s information safe, and to help protect your business from the risk of a cyber attack or a data breach. It covers both digital and paper records

When you complete the toolkit, you can share information publicly about the standard you have reached, and how you are continually improving your policies and practice.

Our Offer

As a local support partner, we offer free support via online sessions and one to one support visits where one of our staff will arrange a meeting with you either online, at your premises or at our premises to help you:

Who We Help

As a local organisation, we know the local care market. So our support is focused on Care Quality Commission registered care providers in Liverpool and across the North West.

We can help care homes, home care providers, extra care housing, supported living and Shared Lives services supporting adults of all ages.

We can also support large care groups if all or most of your services are in the areas we cover.

If you are part of a large care provider group with services in multiple parts of the country, you are likely to already be supported through the national Better Security, Better Care programme provided by Digital Social Care.

The BSBC Data Security & Protection Toolkit Summit 2024

The first DSPT Summit for the Northwest was held on 23rd January 2024.  In collaboration with Better Security, Better Care, Skills For Care, and National Care Forum, we hosted care providers, local authority members and several key stakeholders to initiate insightful discussions around the DSPT. If you are an associate stakeholder or a care provider in the Northwest, click the link below to learn more and get to the resources page.
