Description:
A 5-week course which prepares learners for working in the Adult Social Care Sector. Attendance* is expected up to 3 days per week from 10.00 AM to 4.30 PM. In addition, the week before the course starts, we hold an open day which gives you more information and finds out your level of literacy/numeracy and after the course ends, there is opportunity to meet employers.
Course aims:
To provide you with sufficient knowledge to prepare you to work in social care through group and self-directed learning using exercises, films, presentations, written and reflective work.
Learning covers a range of topics including role of the social care worker, and their duty of care through to communication, the social care values and principles, including, equality and diversity.
We also ensure a thorough grounding in Safeguarding.
Learners:
This course is particularly useful for those new to social care as an excellent grounding. It is also useful for those returning to social care after a career break as an update of their knowledge. The qualification is appropriate for several roles in the sector in a variety of social care settings.
You will need to be able to follow verbal and written instructions so that you can:
1. Listen to and join in group discussions
2. Take notes of the main points of the sessions
3. Know what to do to complete the assessment workbooks.
You will need:
To provide a pen, a lever arch file and a pad of A4 writing paper. You must bring these to every session. You may also wish to have plastic punched pockets and cardboard dividers, though these are not essential.
Progression:
Your progress will be evidenced by the work in your portfolio, by ultimately achieving your CACHE qualification and the regular use of a Personal Learning Plan during the course. Candidates on the Level 1 will be able to progress to the Level 2 or go on to a job outcome.
